For over 100 years, SVdP NKY has been a trusted neighbor, assisting those in need. We help over 56,000 people each year through difficult times in their lives, especially in emergencies. Our work is based on the philosophy of putting action behind intention. We help people. We do good works. And that good brings hope to our neighbors in need. We recognize the humanity in each other and treat everyone with respect and dignity.

We are a non-profit organization. Our successes have a direct impact on the lives of our neighbors. While we want our volunteers to enjoy their experiences, we must make sure we are completing the work that helps us meet our mission. That’s why we schedule our volunteer activities and have target goals for the number of volunteers we can host each day. We also want to make sure that all volunteers have sufficient and meaningful work. For this reason, and others, we do not accept walk-in volunteers.

Simply, our volunteers are a vital link to ensuring the success of our mission.

Everyone has something to offer to help us help others! We also want to encourage community service and volunteerism to all ages. Our age requirements to volunteer on-site are:

• Minimum age to volunteer: 6 years old
• Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
• Parents/guardians who accompany their children must also sign up/schedule as volunteers
• All volunteers under age 18 must download and complete a Volunteer Agreement, signed by a parent or guardian, and submitted before a scheduled volunteer time.

Beginning in October 2024, we are implementing a new process and online scheduling system for our volunteer program. While this process may change as the new system is implemented, your experience would be:

1. Submit a Volunteer Information Form.
2. Your information form will be reviewed by Volunteer Services to ensure a good placement. Forms will be reviewed Monday-Friday during business hours. Holidays may delay review 1-2 days.
3. After review, you will receive an email from Volunteer Services. If you are placed, you’ll be directed to our online orientation (less than 1hr).
4. If we are unable to place you, we will suggest other organizations that might be a better fit.
5. Once you’ve successfully completed online orientation, an email will notify you that you can sign up for shifts for roles that best suit your skills.

It’s our goal to have this part of your volunteer experience be quick and easy. It is possible that you can start volunteering within 2 business days, but certain roles may require additional steps.

Yes! We welcome small groups up to 10 volunteers from businesses, schools, faith-based and/or civic organizations to serve at our Cold Spring, Erlanger, and Florence locations. To request a date or discuss your service event:

Yes! We have off-site volunteer opportunities that focus on gathering and packaging items that are distributed to our neighbors. Some areas include:

• Host a food and/or hygiene donation drive – we always need food and hygiene items to distribute through our food pantries and Homeless Assistance Program. For planning and executing a donation drive that collects at least 100 pounds of food or products, a volunteer can earn 10 community service hours.
• Create Blessing Bags – gather hygiene items and create individual bags that are then distributed through our food pantries and Homeless Assistance Program. For planning and executing a Blessing Bag project of at least 25 bags, a volunteer can earn 5 community service hours.
• Create Laundry Blessing Bags – gather laundry items and create individual bags that are then distributed through our Homeless Assistance Program. For planning and executing a Laundry Blessing Bag project of at least 25 bags, a volunteer can earn 5 community service hours.
• Create Birthday Kits – gather birthday celebration supplies and create individual kits that are then distributed through our food pantries. For planning and executing a Birthday Kit project of at least 25 kits, a volunteer can earn 5 community service hours.

We have a saying that “no act of charity is foreign to the Society.” That means that we are always interested in hearing about different ways that we may serve our neighbors in need.
